Privacy notice

Updated 26 October 2026.

I'm responsible for information you give me through this website.

I'm Bontle Senne, trading as Bontle Senne Consulting. For enquiries or questions about your personal information, email me@bontlesenne.com. For this website and my own business correspondence, I'm the controller, which means I decide why and how I use your personal information.

I use the information needed to respond to you.

If you contact me, I receive your name, email address and whatever you include in your message. The contact form also asks for your company, how I can help and any other information you want to provide. You can contact me directly by email instead. Please keep your first enquiry to what I need to understand the work, and avoid sending sensitive personal information or confidential documents through the public form.

Squarespace hosts this website and processes technical information such as your internet address, browser and device details, pages visited and request times. Some of this information is needed to deliver and protect the website. Optional analytics help explain how visitors use it; the cookie notice explains your choices.

I rely on different legal grounds for different uses.

I use business contact details and correspondence to answer enquiries, discuss work with organisations and keep the website secure. My legitimate interests are to run my consultancy, respond to people who contact me and protect the service against misuse. Where you're arranging a contract with me personally, I also use the information needed to take the steps you request before that contract and to carry it out. I use information where necessary to meet legal duties, including keeping accounting records and responding to data-protection requests.

Where optional cookies require consent, I rely on the choice you make through Cookie Preferences. You can change that choice at any time. Sending an enquiry doesn't sign you up for marketing emails. I don't currently operate a mailing list.

You can object to my use of your information where I rely on legitimate interests. Email me@bontlesenne.com and I'll consider your circumstances and the reason I need the information.

Service providers help me operate the website and respond to enquiries.

Squarespace processes website visits and form submissions, and Google provides my email service. They may use other companies to provide parts of their services. Information may also need to reach professional advisers or public authorities where necessary for advice, a legal duty or a legal claim. Following a link to another website, including LinkedIn, YouTube or a bookseller, takes you to that provider's service and privacy arrangements.

These services can involve processing outside the UK, including in the United States. Squarespace and Google describe the legal arrangements they use to protect information sent abroad. These include the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, a scheme that allows transfers to participating US companies under recognised privacy protections, and approved contractual safeguards, which are written commitments to protect the transferred information. The arrangement that applies depends on the recipient and service. You can read their policies at https://www.squarespace.com/privacy and https://policies.google.com/privacy/frameworks, or contact me for information about the protections relevant to your enquiry.

I keep information according to the reason I need it.

For an enquiry that doesn't lead to work, I keep the correspondence for 12 months after our last contact, unless I need it for longer to answer a follow-up question or resolve a dispute. If it leads to an engagement, I keep the relevant business records for 6 years after the engagement ends, which covers accounting, insurance and legal-claims periods. A live complaint or legal claim may require particular records to be kept longer. Once those reasons end, I delete or anonymise the information. Website logs, cookies and provider backups have their own operational periods; the cookie notice links to Squarespace's published cookie durations. You can ask me which retention period applies to your information.

You have rights over your personal information.

Depending on the circumstances and the legal ground for its use, you can ask for a copy, correction, deletion, restricted use or transfer of information you provided. You can withdraw consent where I rely on it, without affecting use that was lawful before withdrawal.

Providing enquiry information is your choice. I need enough contact information to reply, and I may be unable to respond without it. An enquiry doesn't involve an automated decision about you with legal or similarly significant effects.

You can complain to me or to the Information Commissioner's Office.

If you're unhappy with how I've used or handled your personal information, email your complaint to me@bontlesenne.com. I'll acknowledge it within 30 days, look into it without undue delay and keep you informed of its progress and outcome. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at any time, at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.

Client dashboards need their own project information.

If I operate a private dashboard for a client, the invitation or project notice will explain the organisation responsible, the information used, the service providers, any artificial-intelligence features and the retention arrangements for that engagement. Where I process information on a client's instructions, the client is responsible for deciding its purpose and legal grounds. Before that processing begins, the client and I need a written data-processing agreement setting out my responsibilities. My own contract, billing and business correspondence records remain separate. General dashboard use rules explain the expected behaviour of invited users; they don't replace the project's privacy notice or agreement.

I'll date changes to this notice and explain material changes when they affect how I use your information.
